Feds investigating whether CIA chief’s email was hacked

Authorities are investigating a possible hack of CIA Director John Brennan’s private email account, according to multiple reports.

The New York Post late Sunday published an interview with a high schooler who claims to have infiltrated Brennan’s personal AOL account, stealing sensitive files, such as Brennan’s application for top-secret security clearance.

{mosads}The hacker said he also discovered the Social Security numbers and other personal details on over a dozen top American intelligence officials after breaking in on Oct. 12.

Some of the documents in the email account may stretch back to Brennan’s time as the head of the National Counterterrorism Center. The hacker claims to have taken a letter from Brennan about the use of “harsh interrogation techniques” on terrorism suspects.

The high schooler reportedly also cracked Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson’s online Comcast account, posting a redacted screenshot of a billing page.

Law enforcement officials said they are investigating the matter, but that there is no evidence that classified information was accessed, CNN reported.

The cyber intruder considers himself part of a small hacking group that goes by “CWA” or “Crackas With Attitude,” which may just be him and a classmate.

A desire to protest U.S. support for Israel drove the cyberattack, the teenager told several media outlets.

“John and Jeh are both very big people and high-ranking people, so, I mean, if we hacked them, they would be ashamed,” he told CNN. “But it was really because the government are killing innocent people, they also fund (Israel) for killing innocent people.”

The incident comes as Hillary Clinton is enmeshed in controversy over her decision to use a private email account hosted on a personal server while serving as secretary of State.

If true, the Brennan hack would only further expose the security risks of allowing any government information on the personal accounts of top-ranking officials.

Clinton has maintained there is no evidence her account was ever breached. But investigations have uncovered several attempts to penetrate both Clinton’s email account and her personal server.
