Clinton deflects email question to Trump

Hillary Clinton deflected the only question about her email controversy during Sunday’s presidential debate, instead focusing her answer squarely on criticizing GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

CNN moderator Anderson Cooper had asked Clinton how she would respond to Trump’s promise to raise questions about her emails every day of his campaign. But Clinton did not address that part of the question.

{mosads}”‘The last time I checked, as of last night, Donald Trump had received 3.6 million votes, which is a good number,” she said in Flint, Mich.

“There’s only one candidate in either party who has more votes than him, and that’s me. I am building a broad, diverse coalition across our country, I am very excited by the support we are receiving.”

The questions come days after the State Department employee who helped set up Clinton’s private email server accepted an immunity deal with the FBI as the bureau continues to investigate her use of that server when she served as secretary of State.

Clinton said Sunday that she was “delighted” that the employee is cooperating.

The State Department is nearing its release of Clinton’s business emails. That process has uncovered more than 1,800 emails with some level of security classification.
