Paul Ryan to speak at anti-abortion march in DC

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will address this year’s March for Life, an annual anti-abortion rally in Washington, D.C.

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini called it an “honor” to have Ryan speak at the Jan. 19 event.

“Speaker Ryan has been an unwavering champion for the pro-life cause since taking office, and continues to utilize his post to promote the inherent dignity of the human person at all stages of life,” Mancini said in a statement.

Ryan is currently the highest-ranking government official scheduled to speak at the event.

Last year Mike Pence became the first sitting vice president to address the marchers.

Other lawmakers scheduled to speak at the 45th annual event include the co-chairmen of the House’s bipartisan Pro Life Caucus, Reps. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Chris Smith (R-N.J.).

Heritage Foundation President Kay Cole James and ESPN analyst Tim Tebow’s mother, Pam, will also speak.

Organizers say more than 100,000 people attended last year’s march.
