Carter Page dismisses ‘false narrative’ of Russia allegations

Former President Trump campaign adviser Carter Page denied allegations that he acted improperly in his contacts with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.

“I did nothing that could even be possibly viewed as helping them in any way,” he said in an interview with Fox News that aired Friday.

Page, an oil industry consultant with admittedly deep business ties in Russia, is among a handful of former Trump campaign aides accused of communicating with Russian officials during the president’s election bid. Page reportedly met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at an event in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention in July.

{mosads}He told Fox News that his business dealings in Russia and his past criticism of former President Obama made him a “pretty local political choice” for scrutiny. But the allegations against him amounted to a “false narrative” and dismissed them as “propaganda.”

The former Trump campaign adviser volunteered last week to go before the House Intelligence Committee as part of its investigation into Russian efforts to influence outcome of the 2016 election and potential collusion between Trump’s aides and the Kremlin.

When asked if he was prepared to go before the panel to testify, Page said he was “excited about helping the committee.”

“I would love to. I can’t wait for them to ask me about the crazy allegations that have came out of that dossier.”
