Boehner: ‘No other word’ for Snowden but ‘traitor’
Edward Snowden didn’t win over Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) in his televised interview on Wednesday night.
Snowden, who leaked sensitive National Security Agency documents and then sought asylum in Russia, told NBC’s Brian Williams he considered himself a “patriot” and wants to return to the U.S.
Boehner wasn’t having it.
“Edward Snowden is a traitor to our country,” he said at a press conference after a House GOP meeting. “He has damaged our ability to keep Americans safe here and abroad, and there is no other word to describe him other than traitor.”
