Amazon eyes move into pharmacy market: report
Amazon is eying an entrance into the pharmacy market and bringing on a new general manager to lead the charge, CNBC reported Wednesday.
Whether Amazon will actually go through with the move remains to be seen. But the company has held annual meetings on topic for the last few years and is reported to be hiring heavily from the pharmacy industry, according to CNBC.
What’s more, the decision to hire a business lead to help the company develop a strategy for a potential entrance into the pharmacy market signals that the online retail giant is becoming increasingly serious about the idea.

Amazon recently began selling medical equipment and supplies. And in Japan, the company began selling pharmaceuticals and cosmetics through its Prime Now delivery service last month. Amazon often tests new services in foreign markets before bringing them in the U.S.
