Logan Paul pledges $1 million to suicide prevention groups

YouTube megastar Logan Paul has pledged $1 million for suicide prevention organizations in his first video since the backlash he received for posting a video online that included footage of a dead body.

Paul came across the body while in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, a common destination in the country for individuals who are considering suicide.

In a new video promoting suicide awareness, Paul said that he would donate $1 million to various suicide prevention groups, including $250,000 to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

{mosads}Many derided Paul for being callous and insensitive to suicide in his original video. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), questioned YouTube’s policy for allowing Paul’s video to be posted to begin with.

“What exactly is your system to prevent stuff like this from happening again? And don’t give me a long about artificial intelligence or the number of users you have,” Schatz asked YouTube on Twitter.

The video was taken down following the outrage it caused and YouTube canceled projects it had planned with Paul.
