Obama jokes about ‘House of Cards’
President Obama joked Tuesday that he wished things were as “ruthlessly efficient” in Washington as they are in the Netflix original series “House of Cards.”
{mosads}At the opening to his meeting with technology CEOs at the White House, the president lobbied Netflix CEO Reed Hastings for an early peek at the second season, slated to debut in February.
“I’m just wondering if we brought advance copies of ‘House of Cards,’ ” Obama said, to laughter.
After being asked about doing a cameo for the series, Obama said that he wished “things were that ruthlessly efficient.”
“It’s true. I was looking at Kevin Spacey, I was thinking man, this guy’s getting a lot of stuff done,” Obama quipped.
In the series, Spacey plays Frances Underwood, a fictitious House Majority Whip who manipulates his way to the vice presidency through a series of back room political deals, lies, and even the murder of a Pennsylvania congressman.
