Robert Redford ‘glad’ Trump is running
Donald Trump is getting a boost from an unlikely source: Robert Redford.
The “All the President’s Men” actor and Academy Award-winning director says he’s “glad” the GOP presidential candidate is in the race.
“He’s got such a big foot in his mouth I’m not sure you could get it out,” Redford told Larry King of Trump, on Ora.tv’s “Larry King Now.”
{mosads}But the longtime Democratic supporter, who in a 2012 Huffington Post op-ed penned the reasons he was backing President Obama’s reelection campaign, said of Trump: “I’m glad he’s in there because him being the way he is, and saying what he says the way he says it, I think shakes things up and I think that’s very needed. Because on the other side it’s so bland, it’s so boring, it’s so empty.”
The current state of the presidential race, Redford told King, is “like ‘Looney Tunes’ and not “Merrie Melodies.’ It’s crazy stuff.”
Redford, star of the new movie, “A Walk in the Woods,” lamented, “It’s like, come on, you guys. You’re making us feel foolish, just having to watch you.”
