Hailey Sadler didn’t travel far to get to her job in D.C. — her hometown is just a few hours away — but she got here in record time.

She graduated early from college in 2012, and in the space of just a year and a half she’s moved from executive editor for a regional magazine to press secretary for Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.). Now 21, while many of her peers are still worrying about exams, she’s settling into her job and life in Washington.

{mosads}“I enjoy the challenge and the excitement. I feel like every day it’s different and there’s always something new to handle. Every day you come in, you know you have a set schedule, but you don’t know how the day’s going to end up,” she says.

Sadler’s undaunted by her responsibilities, feeling at ease “in the thick of it all.” Outside of work, she volunteers with the worship group Praise on the Mall. She’s also an art buff: as a student at Thomas Edison State College, she ran her own business “creating and selling art collections up and down the East Coast.”

Sadler also likes to visit her family, saying she’s “very close” to her four sisters. 

When she’s not spending time with her family, Sadler’s an amateur shutterbug. 

“After a real long session week, I’ll give myself a day or a weekend and just take my camera, and go grab a few photographer friends, and wander around and take pictures,” she says.

While the House staffer runs in half-marathons and plays tennis, she’s not exactly a fitness nut.

“I drink a lot of coffee and I run, is that a good plan?” she jokes.

One might call her beauty routine low-maintenance, too. When asked for any tips, Sadler replies with a laugh, “I often just roll out of the bed and come to the office. I’m certainly no expert there!”
