Caitlin Sause
Caitlin Sause is comfortable in heels and a dress, but don’t mistake her for a girly girl — she’s equally at home in shipyards and on the farm.
{mosads}It’s a quality that serves her well while overseeing public affairs for Vigor Industrial, a shipbuilding and repair company where she toils side by side with dockworkers from the Pacific Northwest to Alaska.
“I love my heels, but I love my boots and jeans just as much,” Sause said.
Her parents own dozens of horses on their Oregon farm, including Razzberry, the “very much retired” 31-year-old horse she rode for six of the nine international championships she won in Arabian horse riding competitions.
“I hop on him and take a beer out to the middle of the field and don’t have a care in the world,” Sause said. “Razzberry definitely doesn’t care about what amendment just passed. He’s just interested in my baby carrots.”
