Sen. Martin Heinrich
Much has changed for Sen. Martin Heinrich since he first appeared on The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful list as a congressman in 2009.
{mosads}For one, winning a Senate seat has meant no more epic climbs to his former fifth-floor Longworth office. “Although I still think just generally taking the stairs is one of the easiest things to add to your day” to stay in shape, Heinrich said.
But what he’s lost in stair flights, the New Mexico Democrat has made up for with other calorie-burning activities, including hiking, biking and P90X biometric workouts. He completed his second marathon earlier this year.
Heinrich says he’s been “known to wear a bolo tie from time to time, as much as that’s a fashion faux pas around here.” He switches between a pair of brown or black boots almost every day on Capitol Hill.
“They’re just more comfortable. And with the TSA they’re easier.”
