Sheila Nix

Sheila Nix serves as chief of staff for Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Biden. But before that, she worked for someone who may be more famous: Bono.

{mosads}Nix was executive director of the One Campaign, the U2 frontman’s advocacy group to fight poverty and disease in Africa. 

“He’s an amazing person on these issues,” Nix said of Bono. “He’s extremely knowledgeable and passionate.” 

She has been able to do similar work in her current post. Biden made a three-nation trip to Africa last summer to raise awareness for girls’ education. 

Nix has spent almost two decades in Washington, where she and her husband have raised three children. But the Illinois native said settling inside the Beltway wasn’t her original plan.

“When my husband and I first moved here, we agreed to stay for just two years,” she said. “I think it kind of gets in your blood.”
