Margaret Brennan, the State Department correspondent for CBS News, has the 50 Most Beautiful list to thank (or blame) for adding a bit of weirdness to her budding relationship with her then-boyfriend.

{mosads}Brennan’s guy at the time, Yado Yakub, made The Hill’s 2013 list and wanted to give his new girlfriend a heads-up about how he described their relationship status in the issue.

“I just wanted to let you know that I told them it was ‘evolving,’ ” Brennan recalled Yakub saying. “I didn’t know whether we were in a relationship or whether I could call you my girlfriend or not.”

The two tied the knot earlier this year. But Brennan, a globe-trotting journalist who became a vegetarian at 12 after reading Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, wouldn’t go as far as saying 50 Most Beautiful helped solidify her relationship.

“I think it helped facilitate an awkward conversation,” she said with a laugh.
