When Xavier Underwood got the chance to attend Ben Carson’s Christmas party, the best present wasn’t the one under the tree. 

{mosads}He hit it off with the future presidential candidate and his wife, Candy, and later took control of Carson’s social media just as Carson’s political career began to gain steam.

“It’s remarkable,” Underwood said of the chance to work with Carson.

“I take a lot of inspiration from Dr. Carson himself.”

Even while traveling with the campaign, Underwood keeps style and fitness at the forefront of his mind. He’s earned a nickname from Carson, “GQ,” thanks to his sharp suits and handmade bow ties he used to make as a side job. And he takes inspiration from his favorite designer, Ralph Lauren.

“A classic, well-tailored man is a lost art in our day and age,” he said.
