Marcie Smith
Marcie Smith’s time in Washington includes a mix of plants, performing, pigskin and politics.
Trained as a botanist, Smith came to Washington from her native Delaware to lobby for the American Chemistry Council. From there, she headed to her current job as a legislative assistant for Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.).

Smith has appeared on D.C. staple “House of Cards” as “Kara” — an extra in a season three episode, where she snuck in an unscripted “mhmm.”
“That was the coolest thing I’ve ever done,” she says of her audition for the Netflix series.
Smith, who has won local pageants in Delaware, also tried out to be a Washington Redskins cheerleader and served as an ambassador last season for the team.
Although she comes from a family that cheers on the Philadelphia Eagles, when asked if she considers herself a ’Skins fan, she replies with a smile, “I am now.”
