Pelosi mocks Cantor’s ‘little king’ jobs bill

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) mocked the Republicans’ jobs package Thursday, likening the “meager” bill to a “little king.”

Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) is leading the push for a series of proposals designed to stimulate the economy and create jobs — a package that’s expected to pass the House with broad bipartisan support on Thursday. President Obama has endorsed it.

{mosads}Asked during her weekly news conference why Democratic leaders haven’t “trumpeted” the rare bipartisan nature of the Republicans’ effort, Pelosi argued that the legislation is simply too small to have any significant impact on the economy.

“It’s because it’s so meager,” she said.

Trumpets, she suggested, are reserved to announce major events. “[And] here comes the little king,” she said, after making a trumpet sound of her own from the lectern.

“Yes, it’s bipartisan … and that’s a big thing,” she said. “But let’s not mistake it for what we need to do for a real serious, comprehensive jobs bill for our country.”
