President Bush plans second farm bill veto

The White House on Friday confirmed President Bush intends to again veto the farm bill, which was passed overwhelmingly by the Senate Thursday.

{mosads}Spokesman Scott Stanzel said the Senate's 77-15 vote did not sway the president. The vote tally means another veto override is likely.

The Senate's vote followed a similar vote last month by the House.

Both chambers already overrode Bush's veto, but House leaders had accidentally omitted a section on trade policy from the bill when it went to Bush. That forced Congress to completely re-pass the entire legislation.

Congress only overrode a Bush veto once before, on water project funding.
