• EDUCATION. Van Scoyoc Associates has been hired by the Texas A&M
University System to lobby on “science and engineering research; higher
education and academic related issues and initiatives,” according to
lobbying disclosure records. Leslee Gilbert, once staff director and
counsel to the House Science Committee, is lobbying for the university.
 
• ENERGY. Dutko Grayling has been hired by Uintah Resources, an oil-shale developer based in Salt Lake City, Utah, to “work on environmental issues impacting the client,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Bill Simmons, a former staff director for the House Forests and Forest Health subcommittee, is lobbying for the company.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has been hired by the Consumer Healthcare Products Association to lobby on “preserving consumer access to over-the-counter medicines containing pseudoephedrine,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Alexander Dahl, former counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Michael Eisenberg, once a whip coordinator for Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), are lobbying for the trade group.
 
Arent Fox has been hired by the American Dental Association to lobby on “ERISA [Employee Retirement Income Security Act] policies regarding dental insurance coverage,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Former Rep. Phil English (R-Pa.) is lobbying for the trade group.
 
• TAX. Jake Perry + Partners has been hired by Xcel Energy to lobby on “consumer renewable credit,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Jake Perry, a former legislative aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), is lobbying for the electric and natural-gas company.

• TECHNOLOGY. Elmendorf Ryan has been hired by the Entertainment Software Association to provide “general advocacy and legislative strategy on behalf of the software gaming industry,” according to lobbying disclosure records. Steve Elmendorf, a former chief of staff to ex-House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.), and Jimmy Ryan, once legislative director and general counsel to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), are lobbying for the trade group.
