White House takes ‘Jedi Mind Meld’ to Twitter
{mosads}After a meeting with congressional leaders on replacing the sequester, Obama was asked why he hasn’t locked top Democrats and Republicans in a room until a deal was reached. In response, Obama said the conventional wisdom was that he could somehow use a “Jedi mind-meld” to make lawmakers come to an agreement.
Later on Friday afternoon, the White House tweeted out a picture of Obama paraphrasing a famous Star Wars line.
“These aren’t the solutions Americans are looking for,” the text of a photo, in the classic Star Wars font, tweeted out by the White House said.
We must bring balance to the Force. #Sequester #JediMindMeld twitter.com/whitehouse/sta…

The comment actually confused two popular science fiction worlds. In Star Wars there’s a Jedi mind trick, and in Star Trek there’s a “Vulcan mind meld.” Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock in the original Star Trek, responded to Obama’s bungled reference.
Only a Vulcan mind meld will help with this congress. LLAP
