Hoyer says December session ‘possible’

Democrats could hold a second lame-duck session in December if Congress fails to pass a rescue package for American automakers this week, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday.

{mosads}”It’s possible,” Hoyer said when asked about that prospect in an appearance at the National Press Club. “We do believe dealing with the automakers is a pressing need.”

Hoyer said House leaders already plan to hold an economic forum the week of Dec. 8, and that could be expanded by calling the full House back.

“That is available to us,” Hoyer said. “The year has not ended.”
