Under Contract

• The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response on Aug. 31 awarded a $26.5 million contract to Elusys Therapeutics. The business will “perform all research and development necessary for the development of [Anthim] for the treatment, post-exposure, of inhalational anthrax.” The contract has a base performance period that runs from Sept. 15, 2011, to Sept. 14, 2013 and five option periods, which could make the contract last through 2016. If all options are exercised, the contract would be worth approximately $68.8 million.

 • The Army awarded The Boeing Co. a $181.6 million contract Sept. 7. Boeing will “provide for system engineering support and field service representatives for the Early-Infantry Brigade Combat Team low rate initial production.” The major defense contractor will work in four states — Missouri, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Virginia — to finish this work by Dec. 31, 2013.

{mosads} The Defense Logistics Agency on Sept. 6 signed a “nine-month bridge contract” worth a maximum of $45 million with SupplyCore Inc. The company will provide “maintenance, repair and operations supplies and related services for the U.S. Central Command region.” The contract is set to be completed May 31, 2012.

 • The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency chose Ball Aerospace Corp. to complete an almost $37 million contract Sept. 2. Ball Aerospace will “see[k] to provide persistent, real-time, tactical video and missile launch detection and tracking to the war fighter” as part of the Moire Program. The contract is expected to end by Feb. 10, 2013.

 • The Navy on Sept. 7 awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a $38.4 million modification to an existing contract. The exercised option allows for “information technology/information management department support services.” Some of these services will include “analytical and technical support for enterprise resource planning” and “hardware and software evaluation and selection.” The work will be for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and will be performed in Patuxent River, Md. This work should be completed in August 2012.
