Hatch: Obama ‘one of the biggest spenders in the history of the world’
“Their passion for spending runs so deep that even an amendment by my friend and colleague Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), which implemented one of President Obama’s recommendations to cut TAA funding for firms was rejected,” said Hatch, referring to an amendment to repeal Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for firms. The amendment was not agreed to by a vote of 43-54 on Wednesday.
“Even when President Obama, one of the biggest spenders in the history of the world agrees a program should be cut they won’t even do that,” continued Hatch. “[I] find it astonishing that my colleagues cannot support eliminating a program that even President Obama agrees should be cut…That’s a true rarity… that is that President Obama agrees to any kind of cut.”
