Cruz: ObamaCare harms US movie industry

Cruz has argued that the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare, harms the U.S. economy because of employer mandates. Businesses that have more than 50 full-time employees have to provide their workers with health insurance or face a fine starting in 2015.

{mosads}Cruz, along with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), have said they’d oppose any government spending bill that includes funding for ObamaCare, as a way to stop implementation of the law.

“We have to continue the fight to defund and repeal ObamaCare. ObamaCare is the number one job-killer in America,” Cruz said. “I want to keep seeing America at the movies. Don’t you?”

This week, House leadership had to cancel a vote on a spending resolution because Tea Party Republicans complained it would be too easy for the Senate to pass the resolution and defeat efforts to defund the healthcare law. If a measure isn’t passed by Oct. 1, the government will shut down.

Democrats point out that the law is already benefiting those with preexisting conditions who can’t be denied coverage, people younger than 26 who can stay on a parent’s insurance plan and women who now pay less for preventive healthcare.
