LinkedIn joins legal fight against NSA secrecy

{mosads}Google and Microsoft first launched the legal battle to reveal more information about NSA spying and were joined earlier this month by Facebook and Yahoo.

“We believe our members and the LinkedIn community deserve to know this information, especially in light of recent revelations about the nature of U.S. government surveillance,” Erika Rottenberg, LinkedIn’s general counsel, wrote in a blog post.

The company also published a transparency report on Tuesday detailing government requests for its users’ information. The company said it received 83 requests worldwide in the first half of 2013, 70 of which came from the United States. Because of gag orders, the statistics do not include national security requests.
