Pelosi and House Dems hit the mother lode; Obama down, Reid up, Boehner in free fall
{mosads}President Obama has the right view and the upper hand, but a Gallup poll closed the week with the president upside down with 41 percent approval and 52 percent disapproval. The key point for Obama is that his major political interest, by far, would be for Democrats to recapture the House in 2014, which looks more likely today than it did a week ago.
Pelosi looks strong, solid as a rock and competent. House Democrats look principled, competent and focused. The past of Speaker Pelosi looks far better to voters than the present of Speaker Boehner. And there are more than enough — far more than enough — Republican seats in play to bring House control back to the Democrats again. It will not be easy, but it can be done. The odds grow with every Republican-induced government shutdown and, heaven forbid, a Republican-induced default and economic crash.
Stay tuned: While the House GOP “Keystone Cops” performance continues, and the chance of a default and market crash grows, yours truly predicts there may well be a GOP donors strike. GOP donors would refuse to give Republicans money, while fundraising for House and Senate Democrats gets better with every House Banana Republican blunder.
