Super-PAC with Hillary ties announces ‘Correct the Record’ effort

A Democratic super-PAC with close ties to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Friday a slate of new hires for a “Correct the Record” effort designed to defend Democratic candidates for 2016.

American Bridge, a research-oriented political action committee started by Media Matters founder David Brock, named four new hires to the rapid response team.

{mosads}The organization said it expects to eventually hire more than 20 staffers “charged with providing rapid response to false attacks from Republican politicians, party committees, and conservative interest groups against potential Democratic Presidential candidates.”

They’ll be led by Burns Strider, a senior adviser to Clinton who led the faith outreach on her 2008 presidential campaign. 

Other new employees include Arkansas Democratic strategist Isaac Wright, Adrienne Elrod, the chief of staff to Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.), and Sam Ritzman, who served as research director to Sen. Bill Nelson’s (D-Fla.) reelection campaign.

“In this early period, Correct the Record will aggressively challenge false right-wing attacks before they take hold and expose the fraudulent sources of these attacks to the public,” Brock said in a statement.

Brock recently published an ebook defending Clinton’s role in the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attack on the compound in Benghazi, Libya. 

The effort has already secured funding from a number of top Democratic donors, including Susie Tompkins Buell, a national co-chairman of the Ready for Hillary super-PAC, and Steve Bing, a Clinton donor.
