Montana Dem Senate candidate compares GOP to Taliban
Former Montana Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger (D) announced his Senate campaign this week by comparing House Republicans to the Taliban.
“We need to challenge the Tea Party representatives who, like the Taliban, shut our country down,” Bohlinger told reporters, according to the Billings Gazette, comparing the shutdown to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
{mosads}Bohlinger, who served as a Republican alongside Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D), completed his party switch to run for retiring Sen. Max Baucus’s (D-Mont.) open seat. He’ll face Montana Lt. Gov. John Walsh (D), the favorite of national Democrats who has the endorsement of Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), in the primary.
Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) officially announced his Senate campaign on Wednesday.
