Thanksgiving leftovers the White House won’t like

I have a feeling President Obama will be thankful for many things this Thanksgiving, and he should be. Yet politically, Thanksgiving is likely to make things worse for him. As Congress enjoys time with friends and family, they are likely to get an earful about the failures of the ObamaCare website; the outrage people feel over a broken promise that insured people who liked their healthcare policies could keep them; and the anecdotes over sticker shock we are all hearing from friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives.

{mosads}Back in town next week, members of Congress will be armed with fresh tales about the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as Secretary of State John Kerry will be lobbying them against a push for steeper sanctions against Iran. There are already members of both parties worried about the ACA and the deal the administration cut with Iran. It won’t just be Republicans disagreeing with Obama in December.

Finally, there is another budget deadline coming up shortly — Dec. 13 — when both chambers are supposed to have readied a budget conference report, something that at this point seems laughable. Sequester relief? The Obama administration better hope Democrats don’t join the GOP in demanding a one-year delay of ObamaCare. Indeed, Obama should be thankful things haven’t been worse, because they may be next week.
