Judiciary Committee set to grill Holder
Senators will be able to grill U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder next week at a Judiciary Committee hearing.
On Wednesday, the Senate committee will hold a hearing on oversight of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
{mosads}Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other Republicans will likely call on Holder to take more aggressive action against those at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) who targeted Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny when applying for nonprofit status. Cruz has complained that no one has been prosecuted yet.
Republicans have criticized Holder on numerous other issues, so he is expected to face tough questioning.
Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) should have a much easier time answering questions during his confirmation hearing Tuesday. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will consider whether Baucus should become the next U.S. ambassador to China. He is expected to coast through the confirmation process.
