Perry not ruling out 2016 White House bid
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) wouldn’t rule out a 2016 presidential bid on Sunday.
On CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Candy Crowley asked several governors whether they would rule out running for the White House. Perry was short and definitive in his answer.
{mosads}“No,” Perry said.
Others were more circumspect. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) said that he remains focused on the job at hand.
“I haven’t spent one second thinking about any job another than the one I have been hired to do,” Pence said. “I am focused on Indiana.”
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) said that he was hopeful that Hillary Clinton, considered the Democrats’ front-runner for the White House in 2016, would jump into the race.
“I’m focused on Missouri and plus, Secretary Clinton, we’re hopeful that she gets in. So we will look forward to working with her, but we really do have a lot to get done in the next three years in the Show Me State,” Nixon said.
Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy (D) was more straightforward.
“I’m not going to be a candidate for president,” Malloy said.
