Senate confirms Bureau of Land Management director

The Senate voted 71-28 Tuesday to confirm Neil Kornze as director of the Bureau of Land Management.

The Senate considered these nominees while running out the clock on a procedural vote for the Paycheck Fairness Act, S. 2199. The Senate will vote Wednesday morning on whether to end debate on the motion to proceed to the bill, which aims to ensure women are paid as much as their male peers.

It’s unclear if five Republicans will join Democrats to advance the legislation and overcome a filibuster. Several Republicans want to offer amendments to the bill, but Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) has so far objected.
