Barrow raises $290K, has $1.4M in bank
Rep. John Barrow (D-Ga.) brought in $290,000 during the first fundraising quarter and has more than $1.4 million in the bank as he fights to hold onto his House seat.
{mosads}Barrow, the only white Democratic congressman left in the Deep South, has more than $400,000 more in the bank than he did at this point in 2012.
His five Republican opponents are fighting out a crowded primary to face him — and the four that have filed their fundraising reports have less than half of his warchest, combined.
Crowded primaries have hurt the GOP’s chances against Barrow in past years, though this year’s primary date has been moved up to May 20, making it more likely the expected nominee will have time to recover in his fundraising.
Barrow holds one of the most conservative districts of any House Democrat — Mitt Romney won it by 12 percentage points in 2012.
