Pelosi spokesman blasts ‘failures of Republican Congress’

A spokesman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi blasted the “failures of the Republican Congress” on Saturday.

Responding to the Republican weekly address, Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill assailed the GOP as dysfunctional, and shrouded in a “culture of crisis.”

“House Republicans have to do next-to-nothing to show for their time in the majority,” Hammill said in a statement.

Hammill criticized the address given by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), in which Boehner touted Republicans’ jobs agenda.

Boehner blamed Senate Democrats for failing to take up any jobs bills passed but the Republican-run House, but offered no solutions, Hammill said.

“Nowhere did he explain why Republicans have wasted so much time with 50 votes to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act,” Hammill said.

“Not once did he tell us when Republicans will allow a vote to increase the minimum wage or extend unemployment insurance, or why Republicans have failed to produce a single bill to create jobs.” He added: “Doing nothing is not an agenda – it’s a disgrace.”
