Sources: McAuliffe looks to bypass Legislature on O-Care

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is looking for a legal way to sidestep the Legislature and expand Medicaid under ObamaCare, according to a news report.
 
{mosads}The Washington Post cited anonymous sources Thursday who said McAuliffe has been talking with Attorney General Mark Herring (D) to find legal loopholes to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act without involving lawmakers in Richmond.
 
The Democratic governor, who took office earlier this year, has been struggling to expand Medicaid due to pushback from Republicans in the House of Delegates.
 
So far only Govs. John Kasich (R-Ohio) and Steve Beshear (D-Ky.) have been able to sidestep their respective legislative bodies to expand Medicaid. But Republicans and legal scholars say it is unlikely such a loophole exists in the Virginia constitution.
