Monday: Congressional Gold Medals
The Senate is out Monday, while the House votes on several bills to award Congressional Gold Medals.
The most substantive legislation will come later in the week as the House considers the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act and other bills regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs, sex trafficking prevention and the water resources conference report.
{mosads}Senators will still largely be out of town Monday as the chamber convenes at 11 a.m. for only a pro forma session where no legislative business will be conducted.
Seven measures on tap for Monday would award Congressional Gold Medals to multiple military figures, including the World War II members of the Civil Air Patrol and the so-called “Monuments Men” that were the subject of a 2014 film starring George Clooney. Another bill would award a Congressional Gold Medal to Israeli President Shimon Peres.
House votes will be at 6:30 p.m.
