Schweitzer knocks Hillary Clinton

Former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) knocked Hillary Clinton’s ties to Wall Street in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, and said he hasn’t ruled out a presidential run against her.

{mosads}”If you can judge a person’s character by the company they keep, in politics you can judge a person by the money they seek,” Schweitzer said when asked about Clinton’s Wall Street connections.

The former Montana governor said he hasn’t ruled out a run for president.

“Could I make a difference? Could I get elected? I suppose yes,” he said. “But I don’t think anybody has any better quality of life than I do here.”

The boisterous Schweitzer has long been effective at drawing media attention. But he’s flirted with runs in the past before sitting them out, most notably passing on a run for Montana’s open Senate seat this election cycle after openly discussing a bid and toying with the idea of challenging Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) before he’d decided to leave the Senate.

His economic populism may attract liberals, but if he does run he may have a hard time defending his strong support of expanded energy exploration and gun rights.
