Congress wants time off for World Cup
Lawmakers are joining soccer fans in requesting a break in the middle of the workday on Thursday to catch the United States face-off against Germany in the World Cup.
The U.S. men’s national team head coach Jürgen Klinsmann penned a playful excuse note on Wednesday for soccer-loving workers to submit to their employers ahead of the noontime (EST) game.
On Thursday morning, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) did just that, writing to his boss, Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio), on Twitter:
What do you say @SpeakerBoehner? Just this once for the #USMNT, I promise. pic.twitter.com/M9F97k6rwL

Several members of Congress rooted on the home team ahead of the match.
