Merkel: Germany will win World Cup
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday predicted her country’s soccer team would beat Argentina on Sunday to win the 2014 World Cup.
“It certainly won’t be easy tomorrow; after the 7-1 everybody thinks ‘It’s almost done’ – that’s why we all need to cross our fingers again,” she told a local TV station.
{mosads}Germany beat host country Brazil earlier this week by an almost unprecedented score of 7-1.
Merkel and German President Joachim Gauck will travel to Brazil in the hopes of witnessing a victory.
Brazil will play the Netherlands on Saturday afternoon to determine who gets third place.
