Axelrod hits back on ‘stupid stuff’ after Clinton criticism
David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama, defended the president’s foreign policy motto on Tuesday, after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized it in an interview.
Just to clarify: “Don’t do stupid stuff” means stuff like occupying Iraq in the first place, which was a tragically bad decision.

Clinton criticized Obama’s foreign policy motto of “Don’t do stupid stuff” in a widely publicized interview in The Atlantic over the weekend.
“Great nations need organizing principles, and “Don’t do stupid stuff” is not an organizing principle,” Clinton said.
Axelrod now appears to be hitting back, and is raising a famous difference between Obama and Clinton, which lay at the center of their 2008 primary battle: She supported the Iraq War, and he did not.
