Poll: GOP leads in generic House ballot
Congressional Republicans have a 4-point edge in the generic ballot test, according to the George Washington University Battleground Poll released Wednesday.
House Republicans lead House Democrats 46 percent to 42 percent, a sign they’re likely to pick up seats this fall.
The poll, conducted jointly by the Republican Tarrance Group and Democratic Lake Research Partners, finds the economy is by far voters’ biggest concern. Republicans hold a 49 percent to 42 percent lead when voters are asked which party has more ability to find economic solutions.
Democrats tend to do better on the generic ballot than they do on Election Day because they have fewer seats drawn favorably for their party.
The live-caller poll of 1,000 likely voters, including those with cellphones only, was conducted from Aug. 24-28, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
