OFA to Speaker: ‘Be a better Boehner’

The offshoot of President Obama’s former presidential campaign is pressing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to “be the best Boehner you can be” by taking up immigration reform this year.

Organizing for Action (OFA) released a two-minute Web video Monday in a style similar to one mocked last year during the ObamaCare debate that featured young actors using words like “hella-cold,” “Eww,” and “yo.”

“Listen Champ, I don’t know about this crowd you’ve been hanging out with lately,” one actor tells Boehner in the video titled “The Pep Talk.”

{mosads}”Anyone who is going to push you around is not your friend. I want to see you stand up for yourself and make me proud,” he continues.

The ad mocks the House’s expected lawsuit against the president.

It also presses Boehner to take up immigration reform and admit climate change exists.

“Julie told Michael that she heard Dylan say you are wasting everyone’s time with some lawsuit. Eww,” another young actress talking on a phone says.

The ad features young people in a diner, at a skate park, jogging and talking on a phone in bed. It also features a coach and an older woman gardening.

“The least productive Congress in modern history,” one actress says. “Now, now — we both know you can be a better Boehner than that.”

Over the weekend, the White House announced Obama would delay executive action on immigration until after the midterm elections, saying an announcement now could permanently harm the prospect of broader immigration reform.

Obama announced his intention to use his authority earlier this year after determining the House was unwilling to act. Boehner has recently hinted immigration reform could be taken up next year. However, most Democrats remain skeptical.
