Poll: Dem up double digits in Michigan Senate race
Rep. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) has a double-digit lead over former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land (R), according to a new poll conducted for The Detroit News and WDIV-TV.
{mosads}Peters leads Land by 47 percent to 36.5 percent in the live-caller poll, a larger lead than he’s had in nearly any other public survey this year.
The big lead might indicate the poll is a bit of an outlier, though it also finds Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) with a narrow lead in his race, a match with numbers from other recent polling.
Groups on both sides have continued to spend on ads in the state, indicating that the race isn’t over, yet. But it’s the latest public survey to find Peters with a lead — the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found him up 5 points in a poll earlier this week.
The live-caller poll of 600 likely voters, including 30 percent reached by cellphone, was conducted from Sept. 3-5 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
