The diplomats on Sunday discussed progress made in talks between Iran and the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, the official said, as well as work that remains.
Kerry and his Iranian counterpart also discussed the threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the official added.
