Report: DNC giving millions in midterm push

The Democratic National Committee is reportedly set to hand millions of dollars to the party’s House and Senate campaign committees to boost last-minute campaign efforts.

The Washington Post reported Saturday that the DNC is preparing to transfer as much as $3 million each to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, according to anonymous party officials.

{mosads}The fund transfer comes as Democrats are trying their best to hold on to existing seats, especially in the Senate as Republicans gear up to try and take control of the upper chamber.

The move comes the same week the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced plans to drop $1 million into the South Dakota Senate race.

The party had not been especially active in that race, but recent polling suggested Republican Mike Rounds could be vulnerable in the race to replace retiring Sen. Tim Johnson (D).

The dollar shift also comes as the DCCC shifted funds from trying to oust Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), a top target, to protecting incumbents.

In September, the Republican National Committee outraised the DNC by $3 million, pulling in $10.1 million compared to Democrats’ $7.4 million.
