Michelle Obama fans support for Crist
First Lady Michelle Obama stumped for Charlie Crist on Friday as the Florida Democratic gubernatorial works to get more black voters in his race against incumbent Gov. Rick Scott (R).
“If we want to finish what we started than we need to elect Charlie Crist as governor of Florida,” the first lady told those gathered at Orlando’s Barnett Park Gymnasium, including those from the largely African-American surrounding community.
{mosads}It was one of Crist’s first appearances since a debate Wednesday night got held up when Scott declined to join his opponent on stage because of an electric fan at the podium, which his team said violated agreed-upon debate rules.
“It’s right here,” Crist said Friday in Orlando, pointing to the fan, according to The Associated Press. “It’s all good. You’re my fan.”
The first lady also spoke to black voters at a gym in Miami Gardens to promote Crist, a former Republican governor running as a Democrat who has also gotten support in his gubernatorial bid from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
