McConnell: Mike Johanns is the original wedding crasher
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) gave tribute to retiring Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) Thursday, saying Vince Vaughn can’t hold a candle to him.
McConnell said he’d miss working with “the original wedding crasher.”
{mosads}McConnell was referring to an incident where Johanns was campaigning for election. Johann’s thought he was arriving to a cattle show, but ended up attending a wedding he wasn’t invited to.
“Mike ended up dancing with the bride,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.
Johanns is retiring after serving just one term, but McConnell said it was a “retirement well earned.”
“You name it, Mike has done it, and that’s even before he set foot in the Senate,” McConnell said.
Before coming to the Senate, Johanns had served as governor of Nebraska.
