Carly Fiorina suffers website snafu as .org page bashes her record

Internet users searching for information about Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina might find themselves landing on a website that bashes her business record.

While the former Hewlett-Packard CEO has been sending tweets directing supporters to carlyforpresident.com, she did not register similar domain names ending in “.org” before launching her run for the White House.

Visitors to the page CarlyFiorina.org on Monday encountered the following message:

“Carly Fiorina failed to register this domain. So I’m using it to tell you how many people she laid off at Hewlett-Packard,” the site says. The site then includes 30,000 sad-face emoticons to represent the people that it says were laid off while she led the technology company.

The website snafu is delighting Democrats, who are seizing on it to attack her nascent campaign.

Mo Elleithee, the communications director for the Democratic National Committee and a former Hillary Clinton aide, has been tweeting that supporters should head to CarlyFiorina.org.

Fiorina isn’t the first presidential hopeful to encounter website troubles this year.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has faced some confusion over TedCruz.com, which shows a banner that says, “Support President Obama. Immigration reform now!”

And Ben Carson, the neurosurgeon who jumped into the presidential race during a TV interview Sunday, does not own BenCarson.org, which currently directs to wholesale candy searches.

Fiorina announced her presidential campaign Monday morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America.

”I think I am the best person for the job because I understand how the economy actually works,” she said.
