Scott Walker: Jeb Bush is still ‘probably’ the GOP’s front-runner

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he believes former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is still the GOP’s front-runner in the presidential race, despite Walker’s increasing popularity in some recent polls.

“I think Gov. Bush is still probably up there up front because he’s going to have more money than just about all of us combined, but we’re feeling good,” Walker said during an interview with ABC News’s “This Week” that aired Sunday.

Walker rode a motorcycle through the early-voting state of Iowa on Saturday on a 28-mile route with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) to mark the inaugural “Roast and Ride” event she hosted for a slew of 2016 GOP candidates.

{mosads}Bush, who is expected to launch his presidential campaign in mid-June, did not attend the event.

The Wisconsin governor has previously said the next president shouldn’t be part of a monarchy or legacy, referring to Hillary Clinton, CNN noted.

Asked twice if that statement also applies to Bush, Walker skirted the issue and instead criticized Clinton.

“I think it’s really the context. I hope people, I hope Republicans, I hope independents and even some discerning Democrats will see that we’re striking a stark contrast with Hillary Clinton. You know, we’re a new fresh face taking on someone from the past,” Walker said.

Walker has not yet announced a run for president but said it could come “shortly” after the end of June.
