Why Prayer Is Important for Lawmakers

During the Constitutional Convention on 1787, Benjamin Franklin stated, “God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”

Elected representatives often wax poetic about the philosophies of our founding fathers.  It is time we recognize one of their most significant: an unshakable belief in God and his direction for our great country.

In the perilous and uncertain times in which we now live, the future of our nation hinges on God’s continued protection of our land and guidance of our leaders.  I was proud to join Congressman Randy Forbes and nearly 40 other Members of Congress today for a bipartisan press conference calling America to prayer.  May God continue to bless our nation.
